Nuance by Salma Hayek Review

After a great weekend it’s back to the hustle n bustle of a new week. My to-do list is growing by the minute, but fortunately I treated myself to some  goodies from Salma Hayek’s Nuance line at CVS yesterday and will be putting them to the test this week. I’ve wanted to test out the some of the line after hearing so many great things about it  but sadly it looked like the makeup selection was pretty picked over so I didn’t have much to choose from but a few things did happen to catch my eye.

Flawless Wear Tinted Moisturizer in Medium/Deep

I’ve been looking for a new tinted moisturizer for a while, and despite the lack of SPF I decided to try it out anyways. To be honest I wasn’t too excited to pay $14 for 1 fl oz of moisturizer, but the formula sold me. It’s is a lightweight gel, non comedogenic, hypoallergenic, paraben and fragrance free, and not tested on animals.

I’ve only used it twice and so far so good. It seems pigmented enough to give you an hint of color and has awesome coverage unlike some which I swear are tinted until you blend it into your skin. I’ll be using this in place of my regular moisturizer for the rest of the week to put it to the real test, and like I said the only real discrepancy I have about it now is the fact that it contains no SPF. I suppose I can always mix it with some though.

Color Vibrance Lipstick in Passion Pink

Usually I’m not a lipstick type of girl, I much more prefer a gloss but this lipstick is pretty great! With vitamin E to moisturize it made my lips feel like they were wearing a smooth gloss and its subtle silver shimmer made for a pretty sheen. It’s also very true to it’s name as the color is very rich and vibrant, though it’s not extremely pigmented so you might need a few coats.

I wore it to a family gathering last night and got loads of compliments, I can’t wait to wear it for a night out! The only downside I found about the lipstick is that it doesn’t seem to last very long, but at $9.99 I supposed I can’t complain too much. I’m considering going back to purchase a couple more from the collection.

Rose Petal Hydrating Balm

Made with evening primrose and shea butter the balm is made to condition dehydrated lips, cuticles, elbows and other dry patches. I had a hunch that this would be strikingly similar to the classic Rosebud Salve and upon opening it I found out I was right. It looked like it, smelled like it (though a little stronger), and felt like it. It’s not a horrible product but I think I’ll stick to the salve because for pretty much the same price I can get  more bang for my buck (.8 oz vs the .265 oz hydrating balm).  I was pretty disappointed to pull out a quarter sized balm, it also didn’t seem to keep my lips hydrated very long and since that would be my main use for it I think this product will be a no-go for me.

xoxo,

Mariana

  1. If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

  2. Thank you for the sensible critique. Me and my friend were just preparing to do some research about this. We grabbed a book from our local library but I think I learned better from this post. I am very glad to see such magnificent info being shared freely out there…

  3. I was just seeking this information for some time. After 6 hours of continuous Googleing, at last I got it in your website. I wonder what is the Google’s problem that does not rank this kind of informative websites closer to the top. Normally the top sites are full of garbage.

    • Glad I could help, sorry it took so long haha! From my knowledge Google usually does its ranking on how many times a page is viewed and since my blog is relatively new I’m assuming thats why its not on the first couple pages, hopefully soon that will change!

  4. Thanks for a marvelous posting! I quite enjoyed reading it, you will be a great author.I will make certain to bookmark your blog and definitely will come back at some point. I want to encourage that you continue your great writing, have a nice evening!
